This is all there really is.

“He talked about luck and fate and numbers coming up, yet he never ventured a nickel at the casinos because he knew the house had all the percentages. And beneath his pessimism, his bleak conviction that all the machinery was rigged against him, at the bottom of his soul was a faith that he was going to outwit it, that by carefully watching the signs he was going to know when to dodge and be spared. It was fatalism with a loophole, and all you had to do to make it work was never miss a sign. Survival by coordination, as it were. The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but to those who can see it coming and jump aside. Like a frog evading a shillelagh in a midnight marsh.”
― Hunter S. Thompson, The Rum Diary

If I don’t talk about subjects, people, past experiences, gossip, or some hobby I haven’t explored, it’s because I haven’t out-witted it yet. I haven’t puzzled on the solve enough to form any sense of nuance. I am still evading the shillelagh, and fuck you if my paradigm is gonna be framed in your mindset, and not my own.

Go it alone

“If you’re going to try, go all the way. Otherwise, don’t even start. This could mean losing girlfriends, wives, relatives and maybe even your mind. It could mean not eating for three or four days. It could mean freezing on a park bench. It could mean jail. It could mean derision. It could mean mockery–isolation. Isolation is the gift. All the others are a test of your endurance, of how much you really want to do it. And, you’ll do it, despite rejection and the worst odds. And it will be better than anything else you can imagine. If you’re going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It’s the only good fight there is.”
— Charles Bukowski (Factotum)

Home Theater HiFi progress

The grand experiment of combining the two side-by-side stereo systems continues. Still waiting on the second Schiit amplifier. The initial setup with the new-to-the-house Yamaha receiver with pre-outs is functional. Now pulling wires for extending a second zone for the office basketball TV (Go Lakers!). Once the second amplifier shows up we can shorten the wires and encapsulate them.
